The taxonomic structure for the SPECIES section has been completed for all mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibia to genus level. Information on particular species is added as that species is referenced in Wildpro.

Information on species is entered in varying degrees of detail - full species pages contain very detailed natural history information and where possible photographs are added. Link pages may contain only names and geographic ranges. Link pages will eventually be replaced by full species pages when needed for modules.

This section currently contains natural history information on:

• all UK mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibia
• all species of waterfowl (Anseriformes)
• the West European hedgehog Erinaceus europaeus (detailed information)
• all three species of elephants (detailed information)
• the three North American cervids
• the common raccoon Procyon lotor (detailed information)
• the bears (Ursidae) except the giant panda
• all the infectious organisms causing disease in waterfowl (Anseriformes)
• all viral families affecting vertebrate species, with detailed information available on Foot-and-Mouth Disease virus, West Nile Virus and Rabies
