Spheniscus demersus - Jackass Penguin (Black-footed penguin, African penguin)
Penguin being rinsed following the "Treasure" spill in 2000. To reduce the time required for cleaning, while the wash was as thorough as usual, the rinse was reduced to just five minutes; return to full waterproofing therefore took longer than usual. This approach was possible with the penguins since they do not need to be on water all the time. Note the towel providing a non-slip surface for the bird to stand on during the rinse.
