Domestic Waterfowl Domestic varieties have been developed from four waterfowl species: Anas platyrhynchos - Mallard, Cairina moschata - Muscovy duck, Anser brachyrhynchus - Pink-footed goose, and Anser cygnoides - Swan goose. The domestic variant is denoted as a "sub-species" or "breed" the the addition of "domesticus" at the end of the scientific name. e.g. Anas platyrhynchos domesticus - Domestic duck.

Domestic varieties generally differ from the wild type in size (usually heavier), colour, temperament and behaviour. (V.w5, V.w6)
