This document sets out guidelines for the management of CWD in free-ranging cervids, including development of herd/population plans for affected areas, surveillance and testing, research, communication, information-sharing and education, cooperation between organisations both within and between states, movement of live cervids and movement of carcasses. It is noted that: "Although these guidelines should not be construed as binding on any signatory agency, all states are encouraged to follow them to the extent possible."
