South Devon Seabird Trust (SDST), UK registered Charity No. 1048739, was founded in 1983 and specialises in the rehabilitation of oiled seabirds. The aim of the trust is to care for sick and injured seabirds, with the intention to release back to the wild, but where release is not viable - to offer sanctuary. Over 70% are successfully released back to the wild.

Our success rate in the rehabilitation of oiled seabirds is second to none, however there are of course some birds which will never be able to survive in the wild. These are taken into sanctuary and account for approximately 2% of all those admitted. Any bird which cannot accept life in captivity is put to sleep by a vet.
