Individual Methods for Feeding Methods - Device
Nectar Feeder

The feeding methods outlined in this section require prior preparation in terms of making devices for use by the animals, including items that must be opened or manipulated to obtain food, frames to hold food items, and containers that randomly release food such as insects.

Nectar Feeder

Method Brackets around the enclosure hold D-Dishes containing nectar / sugar solution. Different locations are used for each feed.
Species Nectar feeding birds, for example, Blue-streaked Lory.
Purpose Provide species-specific food in as natural a manner as possible within captivity.
Pro Easy to remove and clean.

Improvements Mashed fruit such as strawberries may be added occasionally to nectar mix.
Comments High energy food provided for foraging in simulated variable environment.
Frequency of Use 5-6 Days per Week.
