Individual Methods for Feeding
Methods - Device
The feeding methods outlined in this section
require prior preparation in terms of making devices for use by the animals, including
items that must be opened or manipulated to obtain food, frames to hold food items, and
containers that randomly release food such as insects.
||Cardboard tubes stuffed with food
treats and straw. Alternatively, the larger tubes from carpet rolls may be used.
||Ring-tailed Lemur, Chimpanzee,
Gorilla, most Monkeys except Spectacled Langur.
||Simple feeding puzzle.
||Ring-tailed Lemurs dont rip
cardboard tubes, so they can be reused.
||Lion-tailed Macaques bite and rip
||Hang tubes in positions that are
difficult to reach.
||The public can perceive the
enclosure as being messy, though the reason for this can be explained with a sign.
||1 Day per Fortnight.
