Swinging Feeding Bowls

The feeding methods outlined in this section require prior preparation in terms of making devices for use by the animals, including items that must be opened or manipulated to obtain food, frames to hold food items, and containers that randomly release food such as insects.

Swinging Feeding Bowls

Method Several food bowls attached onto hanging strips of solid mesh. The bowls are filled on a random basis, not all at the same time.
Species Small perching birds (for example, Thrushes, Mynahs), Pheasants, Parrots.
Purpose Provide a free-swinging feeder which imitates an arboreal food source, requiring birds to adopt an arboreal feeding posture.
