Individual Methods for Feeding Methods - Device
Winter Browse Feeder

The feeding methods outlined in this section require prior preparation in terms of making devices for use by the animals, including items that must be opened or manipulated to obtain food, frames to hold food items, and containers that randomly release food such as insects.

Winter Browse Feeder

Method Two wooden frames with 1 inch mesh, hinged together and secured with leaves inside, the box is then hung up. Monkeys must pick leaves out through the mesh.
Species Any leaf-eating Primate.
Purpose Simulate normal leaf foraging and eating behaviours
Pro Requires some time to obtain the leaves, and results in less wastage of browse as few leaves are dropped to the floor.

Comments Leaves are gathered in summer and frozen, and thawed out for use over the winter.
