Individual Methods for Feeding Methods - Device
Shelled Nut Rope

The feeding methods outlined in this section require prior preparation in terms of making devices for use by the animals, including items that must be opened or manipulated to obtain food, frames to hold food items, and containers that randomly release food such as insects.

Shelled Nut Rope

Method Peanuts, Walnuts and other shelled nuts forced between the weave of thick ropes. Ropes may also be smeared with honey.
Species Monkeys (peanuts), Parrots (walnuts).
Purpose Mobile feeder that requires manipulation and balancing to obtain food.
Pro Lemurs remain interested, and take a lot of time to get peanuts out of the rope.
Con Nut ropes can be time consuming to make, and are quickly solved by large monkey species.
Improvements --
Comments Small monkeys can find it difficult to get the nuts out of the rope.
Frequency of Use 1 Day per Fortnight.
