Environment and Heritage Service

The aim of the Service is to protect and conserve the natural and built environment and to promote its appreciation for the benefit of present and future generations.

Environment and Heritage Service takes the lead in implementing the Government's environmental policy in Northern Ireland. The Agency carries out a range of activities which promote the Government's key themes of sustainable development, biodiversity and climate change. Our overall aims are to protect and conserve Northern Ireland's natural heritage and built environment, to control and regulate pollution and to promote wider appreciation of the environment and best environmental practices.
