Tarring in hedgehogs

• Coal Tar

• Hedgehogs may be found with tar stuck to them, e.g. to the feet. (B259.w10)

• Tarring may occur after a hedgehog walks through a heap of wet tar. (B259.w10)
• There is the possibility that tarring may cause burns (see: Burns). (B259.w10)

Treatment:

• Tar has been removed successfully from the feet of a hedgehog using Swarfega (Polycell Products Ltd.), followed by rinsing in warm soapy water. (B259.w10, B151)
