There are a number of varying but commonly used classifications of Fungi. We have divided this kingdom into the three Phyla / Divisions above and follow Margulis and Schwartz 1999 (B79) who include within this kingdom "eukaryotes that form chitinous, resistant propagules (fungal spores) and Chitinous cell walls and that lack undulipodia (that is, are amastigote, or immotile) at all stages of their life cycle (B79)". The following groups have previously been classified as separate Phyla within this Kingdom, but are now categorised under separate sections: Deuteromyctes ("Fungi Imperfecti" - includes the "Dimorphic
Fungi") Lichens (Mycophytophyta) Chytridiomycota (Chytrid Water Moulds) |
